Typical Day in PHP

The patient’s day consists of programming from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., five days per week. On weekends, the patient schedule allows for more free time under supervision. The following activities occur throughout the week:

  • Meditation
  • House group meeting with peers based on living assignments
  • Educational lectures on the disease and other medically relevant topics
  • Primary therapy groups with assigned therapists; here the focus is on measuring progress against the treatment plan and modifying the plan when necessary.
  • Process groups, facilitated by another therapist; here the focus is on the “here and now” to help the patients develop meaningful relationships
  • Dual-diagnosis group, facilitated by a staff psychiatrist where new coping strategies are taught and practiced
  • Relaxation, exercise and recreational activities
  • Spirituality
  • Relationships group
  • 12-step groups
  • Groups for individual treatment tracks
  • Individual appointments with physicians
  • Personal time for  completing treatment assignments and readings
